Advanced Whitewater Instructor Course

The Canoe Tasmania Advanced Whitewater Instructor Course will be held on Friday evening, July 3, in Launceston and July 4 on the Lea River (or an alternative river if the Lea is too high). Sunday, July 5 will be on a river somewhere.

 

This course is for people who have extensive instructing experience and who have Grade 4 whitewater paddling experience. The Advanced Whitewater Instructor Award is for those people who wish to instruct and lead trips on Grade 3 and above whitewater. Participants need to apply to be accepted into the course, providing evidence of their paddling and instructional experience.

 

The course will focus on instructional techniques for advanced whitewater skills, techniques for analysis, risk management, planning and management of groups.

 

The course fee is:

  • $35 for current AC instructors, plus $20 AC registration fee for an additional Award
  • $260 for non-AC instructors, plus $142.50 AC registration fee for AC Instructor registration for 3 years.

Course fees can be exchanged for instructional work by negotiation with Andrea.
