DCC Huon winter series is on again!
Here is your chance to keep race fit over winter and prepare for the Winter and Freycinet Challenges. Have fun while developing paddling techniques and important race skills such as mass starts and drafting. Safety boat will be in attendance.
WHO: There is a division for every paddler. 3 divisions: Elite, Intermediate and novice. Sea kayaks will start with the novice group. The elite division will be competing for the coveted "King of the Huon" trophy.
WHEN: Last Sunday in the month. April 28th, May 26th, June 30th, July 28th and September 29th. Note Winter Challenge is on Sunday August 18th, Freycinet Challenge is on October 12/ 13th.
TIME: Pre-Race briefing at 9.30AM Race start at 10.00AM with divisions leaving at 5 minute intervals.
WHERE: Based on the Huon river the first race will start in Huonville at the boat ramp. Other venues will be determined according to conditions. Watch the Derwent Canoe Club Facebook page for updates, locations, results and all of the gossip from the races.
ESSENTIALS: PFDs are compulsory. DCC (or other Canoe Australia) membership compulsory (available on the day), Warm paddling clothes and change of clothes.
COSTS: $5 per race (this goes to the DCC to purchase safety equipment)
