The Tasmanian Canoe Club course on the Forth River is starting to take shape again with the help of Central Coast Council and club volunteers.
Central Coast Council brought in their heavy machinery to assist with the clean-up and removal of debris, as well as reconstructing the road and rapid, both of which were significantly altered during the recent flood. Council workers have done an excellent job of restoring the site quickly, enabling two major events to still be held at the venue within weeks of the flood.
The course has now been used for the “Up a Creek With a Paddle” coaching in river paddling day and the Tasmanian Schools Whitewater Championships. The next event will be the Canoe Tasmania Canoe Education Weekend October 20-21.
Two main jobs remain – the reconstruction of the slalom course infrastructure and the club shed.
