Canoe Tasmania is setting up a Canoe Tasmania River Rescue Team to assist with the Hydro Tasmania Wildwater World Cup 2009.
An Australian Canoeing River Rescue 3 course will be held to train this team on January 23-25, 2009 at Brady’s.
The course is free for up to 12 individuals who are willing to commit to being part of the Canoe Tasmania River Rescue team. The course is also open to up to 8 paying participants who wish to undertake the training, but who are do not wish to be part of the team. Cost for paying participants will be $250 for the three day course.
Those people wishing to be part of the Canoe Tasmania River Rescue Team will need to commit to:
- Attend the Canoe Tasmania River Rescue Course and participate to a satisfactory level.
- Provide a rescue and safey service at a minimum of five of the six World Cup races to meet the Safety and Rescue requirements of the events. (A team of 8-10 is required for the Upper Mersey and Brady’s races, with a full team of 12 required for the Fisher River, Meander and Cataract Races).
- Attend a single practice day at each of the following race venues – Fisher River, Meander and Cataract – to familiarise themselves with the rivers.
