Tasmanian’s Feature in 2008 Australian Wildwater Championships

2008 Wildwater Nationals Results

Dan Hall took out both the Australian Championships Classic and Sprint events, for men’s K1, on Victoria’s King River, last weekend. This makes it 5 in a row for Dan! Carol Hurst took home her 5th Australian Championship’s gold medal with the fastest women’s time in the Classic event, while Andrea McQuitty added yet another Australian title to her collection, taking out the Rapid sprints event.

Tasmanians featured well, overall. Matt Dalziel took out the 3rd fastest Classic and 2nd fastest Sprint times for the meet, then added gold in both the Classic Teams and the inaugural Sprint Teams events. Matt becomes the Australian Masters Champion in both Classic and Sprint. Alayne Bonney took out 3rd place overall in both sprint and classic events, then added a gold in the Women’s team event. Alayne becomes the 2008 Australian Open Women’s Champion and the 2007 School’s Champion. Mathew French added a silver medal in the Men’s Classic event, to his string of recent international successes in Europe.

The Tasmanian paddler’s returned great results in a talented field, including some of Victoria’s finest wildwater paddlers on their home course.
