Introduction to Sea Skills - Foundation Level Sea Kayaking Course

 

This course is our foundation level sea kayaking course and will develop your sea kayaking skills to safely and competently undertake a journey without guide or instructor supervision on enclosed or sheltered waters under weather fair conditions.

This course is for those with zero or minimal sea kayaking experience. Participants are required to source their own equipment, however there may be the opportunity for hire. Please enquire with our Education Officer on education.tas@paddle.org.au

  • Inside of estuaries, harbours, embayments or other sheltering reefs or islands
  • Outside of estuaries, harbours, embayments or other sheltering reefs or islands
  • Areas of exposed coastline that are simple, not involving overfalls, tidal races, difficult landings or open crossings
  • Maximum of 2 nautical miles from shore
  • Wind conditions below Fresh Winds(17kn)
  • Breaking (whitecapping) waves (sea) up to 0.5m
  • No surf to 0.5m surf
